**Last Week's Market Recap (December 21 to December 25)**

At the start of the week, there was no significant news for making investment
decisions and the growing wait-and-see sentiment meant little activity in the
market. Later on, the Nasdaq Composite Index recorded its highest value for the
year, the yen weakened to the 91 yen level on the dollar, and expectations rose
for a good year-end market. Under such positive conditions, buying interest grew
around export-related stocks such as iron & steel, electrical appliances, and
automobiles as the market climbed. Heading into the weekend, while most foreign
markets were closed for Christmas, the market dipped as prices of stocks such as
electrical appliances which led the rise closed lower.

TOPIX rose by 15.80 points (1.77%) from the previous week to close at 909.39.
Average daily trading volume fell by 378 million shares to 1.731 billion shares,
and average daily trading value fell by 144.9 billion JPY to 1.1414 trillion JPY.
