Javelin Pharmaceuticals Inc. (AMEX:JAV) added 58.69% to $2.19 on 6.94 million shares. Late Monday, Hospira Inc. (HSP 57.50, -0.22, -0.38%) said that it plans to complete its tender offer of $2.20 a share for Javelin’s stock by the end of the month. The deal had been stalled over Hospira’s concerns about a recent recall of Javelin’s pain medication Dyloject in the U.K. The product is awaiting approval in the U.S. Earlier this month, Javelin sued to compel Hospira to follow through on their merger agreement, under which Hospira had also agreed to loan Javelin $2 million.
Intelli-Check – Mobilisa, Inc. (AMEX:IDN) plunged 22.38% to $1.63 on 1.64 million shares. Intellicheck Mobilisa, Inc. is engaged in providing commercial applications of identity card reading and verification, government sales of defense security and identity card applications, and the development of wireless communications applications with an emphasis in Wireless over Water (WOW) applications.
Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE:BKS) dropped 15.36% to $13.89 on 2.36 million shares after its first-quarter loss forecast was much bigger than expected. The company, which reported a wider fourth-quarter loss, forecast a first-quarter loss of 85 cents to $1.15 a share. Analysts had estimated a loss of 45 cents a share, according to FactSet.
