Top Stocks Movers After Earnings (AA, NVLS, ID, BRKS)

Alcoa Inc. (NYSE:AA) added 1.29% to $11.01 on 40.85 million shares. Earlier the company reported second-quarter profit that topped analysts’ projections as higher metal prices boosted sales. Earnings from continuing operations were 13 cents a share, exceeding the 11-cent average estimate of 17 analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. Net income of $136 million, or 13 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $454 million, or 47 cents, a year earlier, New York-based Alcoa said today in a statement. Sales gained 22 percent to $5.19 billion. The estimates lowered at UBS through 2011. Company is seeing lower aluminum prices. Neutral rating and $12.85 price target.
Novellus Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:NVLS) increased 4.72% to $27.97 on 2.66 million shares. The company earlier reported a second-quarter profit of $63.3 million, or 66 cents a share, compared with a loss of $50 million, or 52 cents, in the year-earlier period. Revenue more than doubled to $321.4 million from $119.2 million.
L-1 Identity Solutions, Inc. (NYSE:ID) dropped 5.19% to $7.12.The company sees sales for the first half of 2010 to be below the previously issued range of $310-$315 million. Also, adjusted EBITDA will also be below the prior range of $42-$45 million.
Brooks Automation, Inc.(USA) (NASDAQ:BRKS) is trading 11.10% higher to $8.91. The company raises its Q3 EPS guidance to 22-24c and sales guidance to $156-$157 million. The Street is currently looking for Q3 EPS and sales of 19c and $152.68 million, respectively.
