Honeywell Brakes For Chinese Airliner (BUY Rating)

Honeywell International Inc. (HON: 41.27 +0.54 +1.33%) has been selected by Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) to supply lightweight carbon brakes for C919 airliner. In addition, it will also provide wheels and tires for the airline. A joint venture company will be constituted for manufacturing the wheel, brake and tire assembly.
Honeywell has a history of developing superior wheel and brake assembly for over seventy-five years. These assemblies exhibit higher capacity to resist wear and tear due to friction compared with other products available in the market. This goes a long way to ensure longevity.
Honeywell has ten facilities in China for facilitating maintenance and manufacture of aircraft-related components and is a supplier of peripherals for more than 70% of China’s Boeing-737 fleet.
Honeywell’s attractive collection of businesses has the potential to earn consistent above-average returns. The company’s focus on working capital management, free cash flow generation and balance sheet strength remain positive attributes in the current weak environment.
The company is a global leader in refrigerants, aerosols, and foam-insulation blowing agents used to replace ozone-depleting Chlorofluorocarbon and Hydro chlorofluorocarbons. Those same products also improve the energy efficiency of homes, appliances, and commercial refrigeration systems.
The company continues to invest in big process initiatives as well as other seed planting across the organization. Honeywell operating system, velocity product development and functional transformation continue to be huge enablers for growth and productivity in 2010.
The company’s proactive restructuring initiatives have positioned it to navigate difficult times better than many of its peers, but we have yet to see signs of stabilization in a number of its major end markets.
At Automation and Control Systems, the largest segment by revenue, industrial customers are delaying both capital and operating spending across a number of businesses, due to weak demand.
Honeywell International Inc. is a diversified technology and manufacturing company, serving customers worldwide with aerospace products and services, control, sensing and security technologies for buildings, homes and industry, turbochargers, automotive products, specialty chemicals, electronic and advanced materials, process technology for refining and petrochemicals and energy efficient products and solutions for homes, business and transportation.
